Subtitle The Jacket |VERIFIED|

Beth Lockley, PRHC vice-president, marketing and communications, confirms that the error occurred as the hardcover jacket was being prepared for the printer, and that the mistake was discovered after advance printer copies of the books had landed.

subtitle The Jacket

Natsuko Toda (戸田 奈津子, Toda Natsuko, born July 3, 1936) is a Japanese subtitler and film industry interpreter. She has been called "the most famous film translator in Japan [...] unquestionably"[1] and the "Subtitle Queen". She has subtitled more than 1,000 English-language films in Japanese.

She learned the craft of subtitling under the eminent Japanese subtitler Shunji Shimizu. She found a part-time job at the Japanese arm of United Artists through Shimizu. At United Artists she performed miscellaneous tasks including translation. Later, Haruo Mizuno, the advertising manager at the time, asked her to work as an interpreter for movie people from abroad.[3] She has been active as both a subtitler and an interpreter for many visiting stars and filmmakers.[4] She has worked on many high-profile films, including Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence[5] and The Last Samurai. Her name is well known to Japanese audiences to the point that Takeshi Kitano's 1995 film Getting Any? contains an inside joke: subtitles that make no sense and are credited on-screen to Toda.[6]

Natsuko Toda also subtitled The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and was criticised by Tolkien fans for her translations, which were inconsistent with the published Japanese translation of the books. Fans petitioned the distributor, Nippon Herald, with complaints about the subtitles.[8] It was later reported that Peter Jackson intended to bring in a new subtitler for the second film in the series, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.[9]

It is based on a "true story" featuring the Haus robbing a jewelry vendor, exploring the urban landscape, and facing betrayal and having a reunion. The soundtrack consists of songs from The Fame (2008), including a song that was scrapped from the album, and with additional arrangements by DJ VH1 and Space Cowboy. Narrated by Gaga, the film is dubbed in French with English and Chinese subtitles.

Dust jacket features red and gray background panels with the title and author's name printed in a white typographical font and a subtitle printed in white calligraphical font. In the center panel is a black and white illustration by George Salter of a man's hand planting a seed in a farm field. The center panel is bordered by a thin black line. The spine has similar gray and red panels, with the title in white typographical font and the author's name in white calligraphic font.

Friends, I need help choosing a subtitle for Public Parts, my book. You all were helpful with What Would Google Do? (which I initially wanted to call WWGD?, but the publisher fought me and you convinced me the publisher was right). Many of you have already been helpful with great suggestions via Twitter (some inspired some of these candidates).

A young Maya woman sits at a sewing machine by the open door of a small adobe room, the only source of light. She is putting together a black sport jacket. It is a shiny polyester-and-cotton blend with a fashionable style. Her employer, who likes to copy some styles and innovate others, designed it. He purchases the materials in the city, designs and cuts the pieces, and then hires young, single women and men to assemble them. The woman is using his sewing machine, whereas other workers whom he employs work at home using their own equipment. While she sews jackets, two of her brothers with their father are planting their cornfields. Her older sister and her mother are at a tourism resort, a few hours away, selling handmade textiles to foreign tourists. And her uncle is in Los Angeles, California, working as a landscaper with other men from other Mesoamerican towns.
